Each country are identified and by a group of letters is called generic country code.This code of the letters are in the country name.
Thus, Romania’s code is RO/ROU being recognized both in Europe and worldwide.
In total there are 237 prefixes of countries from every continent:EUROPE,ASIA,ANTARCTICA,AMERICA,AFRICA and OCEANIA. Country code can be made either two or three letters, being allowed to use any of the two. So if you call a relative from another country you will have to enter the country code first.
